December on a beach isn’t for everyone but on the milder days I really enjoy a walk here. Surprisingly I’m not the only one. There are usually others walking the same stretch of snowy patched sand. It’s a very different experience for me than being here in July. There are no bright colored umbrellas or crowds of people. In the off-season, the heavy tropical scent of sunscreen is replaced with the sweet fragrance of the dune grasses. The water looks cleaner; but I’m not sure if it actually is. It’s quieter. An appeal all its own.
